The PS4 contains at least one Serial Flash chip, and depending on the motherboard model (for example those that have the Aeolia Southbridge) can also have one flash for a SATA Bridge, one flash for a USB 3.0 Hub, one flash for a Communication Processor in the DevKit case or even more flash chips on prototype motherboards.

A serial flash chip contains the firmware and configuration for the SATA bridge device to which it is connected.

Serial flash chips used in PS4 have several OTP/blocking options according to datasheets, but they seem not used, as seen when handling flash or replacing flash itself.
