Launch model released to Japan, United States, and Canada that came with 20GB storage.
It was cheaper than CECHAxx at the cost of having some removed features, such as a smaller hard drive, no WiFi module, and the flap was made a static part of the shell (no card readers). It also features a black trim instead of chrome on the shell, which is unique compared to all other retail Fat model designs.
The Syscon fan table in this model was infamous for letting the temperature reach 80 celsius before the fan would ramp up, leading to quicker deterioration of the 90nm RSX and NEC Tokin capacitors.
It was later discovered it is possible to add a WiFi module from another console to the motherboard in order to restore WiFi functionality.
