Description[edit | edit source]
This page is intended to document the actions taken by Sony when they perform official repairs to PS3 consoles.
General[edit | edit source]
- Stickers added to the board (servicing date, RSX size)
- OEM stickers are replaced; for regions that have dates/datecodes on them, they are sometimes updated
- For slim and super slim models, an official "PlayStation refurbished" or "Factory recertified" sticker is also applied
SKU Models[edit | edit source]
Fat/Phat[edit | edit source]
General[edit | edit source]
- RSX replaced with a newer revision. If the new RSX is a smaller revision:
- The voltage regulator is modified as the RSX requires less power
- The Syscon chip is replaced (with different programming) so that the PS3 can accept the smaller RSX
- Syscon firmware version will be updated: F29 for 65nm RSX, or F38 for 40nm RSX
- This has the side effect of resetting the CELL BE run time counter to zero, and clearing the Error Log
- Any faulty NEC/Tokin capacitors are replaced with a replacement NEC/Tokin capacitor (tantalum capacitors are not used as replacements)
COK-00x[edit | edit source]
The following are sometimes performed:
- BD-400 replaced with BD-410
- Felt added to Blu-ray entrance interior
- Grey felt strip added underneath BD-410, smaller grey fabric removed
- CELL BE brace added
Brace added underneath CELL BE
