6th region lost in combat when resizing 5th region ?[edit source]
The method doesnt mentions any advise about the presence (or contents) of 6th region that should be "displaced" to avoid being overlapped by region 5th, both (new size for 5th, and new start offset for 6th) needs to be updated in the partition table
Even if the region 6th is not used in previous/old firmwares, we cant be sure if it will be used in new firmwares, there are tools that makes this resize from a running gameos and losing data from region 6th could be a problem for this gameos installation
Unnofficial petitboot minimalistic for end-users (no need to resize vflash)[edit source]
There is some way to compile a petitboot for all PS3 models (NOR/NAND) that fits inside the "official" 0x2000 sectors of region 5th ?
The point of this petitboot minimalistic version is it could be installed by just copying the file inside 5th region, no need to resize anything more, the user can then boot a full linux installation from USB or network device. This kind of installation is the less "invasive" (the only modification in internall hdd is the copy of petitboot file), good for people that wants to test linux and doesnt needs all the development features of the bigger petitboot versions
