The Backup And Restore utility allows a PS5 owner to back-up and restore his data associated with users on his PS5, including settings, saved data, screenshots and video clips as well as games, patches and download data, to and from an external USB Drive.

The BAR utility can create archive.dat files on a USB drive which contains a backup of data from the built-in storage.

On some PS5s running System System Software 1.02 and older, never connected to PSN, the Backup and Restore menu is not present in Settings. It is present at least since PS5 System Software version 2.10, according to this article (2020-11-06).
