The PS4 contains at least one Serial Flash chip, and depending on the motherboard model (for example those that have the [[Aeolia]] [[Southbridge]]) can also have one flash for a [[SATA]] Bridge, one flash for a [[USB 3.0]] Hub, one flash for a [[Communication Processor]] in the DevKit case or even more flash chips on prototype motherboards.

Serial flash used in PS4 has several OTP/blocking options (datasheet), but it seems not used (as seen when handling flash or replacing flash itself)


A serial flash chip contains the firmware and configuration for the SATA bridge device to which it is connected.
