Linux/BSD distributions must conform to some aspects before they are useable on the PS3:
- PPC64 (PowerPC 64bit), recommended or PPC32 (PowerPC 32bit)
- Kernel patches etc, for PS3 support (e.g.: Linux / BSD)
- Boot support for GPT (GUID Partition Table)
Side note : You can run a GNU/Linux distribution (OtherOS++) with a MSDOS partition table, but GPT is (very) recommended.
