This model was the first to include 16MB NOR Flash memory. The majority of the firmware from here on is now stored on the hard drive, it is also worth noting that this model was the first to use the Type 3 cooling system while still having a 90nm RSX chip, the CECHH is notorious for having GPU failures due to insufficient cooling.
