Interface name Maximum read speed Notes
CD 24x max read speed: 24*1.229 = 29,496Mbit/s = 3.687MB/s
DVD 4x max read speed: 4*11.08 = 44.32Mbit/s = 5.54MB/s
USB 1.1 full speed (theoretical) 12.5Mbit/s = 1.562MB/s equivalent to 10x CD speed, less than 2x DVD speed
USB 1.1 through UlaunchElf (measured) 4.080Mbit/s = 0.510MB/s
10/100Mbit/s Full duplex ethernet 100Mbit/s = 12.5MB/s 8 times faster than USB 1.1; equivalent to 81x CD speed, 9x DVD speed
SATA-IDE HDD faster than 133MB/s: limited to 1064Mbit/s = 133MB/s 85 times faster than USB 1.1; equivalent to 865x CD speed, 96x DVD speed
