USB Version Fake is a simple plugin that fakes the firmware version of the PSP that is sent to the PS3 and the Playstation Store. It was created with the main intent that the Playstaion Store required 4.05 for downloads to be available, and with 4.05 being released after 4.01 M33 was released and there were no plans for 4.05 M33. Since being released, USB Version Fake is confirmed to work with 4.01 M33-2 and it has not been patched by Sony.

Installation[edit | edit source]

Installation of the plugin is simple, and is installed as any other plugin for custom firmware:

1)Extract the contents of usbversionfake.rar, and move the contents of the seplugins folder to ms0:/seplugins.

2)If you already have previous plugins installed, do NOT overwrite vsh.txt. If you don't, its ok to overwrite.

3)If you didn't overwrite 'vsh.txt', open it, and add ms0:/seplugins/usbversionfake.prx to the bottom line.

4)Save the file.

5)In the usbversion.txt file, alter the file to whatever firmware version you want faked to the PS3/PS Store. Do NOT put nothing another than the firmware.

Bad: 4.05 M33-2 Good: 4.05

6)Save file when done. 7)Disconnect USB Mode, reboot into recovery, go to Plugins and activate usbversionprx. [VSH]. Once activated, exit.

8)To test, install the latest version of the PlayStation store Downloader, and attempt to download anything from the Playstation Store.
