First PS3 super slim model. 40xxA models come with on-board 16GB eMMC flash storage, can configure the system to use this instead of a hard drive.

As well as a redesigned cooling system, the optical drive tray now uses a top loading mechanism similar to PS1. Also the RSX no longer has an IHS.

The models equipped with the NPX-001 motherboard featured a shrunken 28nm RSX.

The LED Diagnostics Mode that was accessible from 21xx to 30xx slims was either changed or completely removed.
